Are you struggling to lose weight, even though you're eating healthy and training hard at the gym? Are you left puzzled and frustrated as to, how you're unable to lose even a single kg of weight with all your hard work? Here I will share the top 3 reasons why you can't lose weight.
Losing weight in your 20's can be an easy thing, especially being super active, playing lots of sports and running around the whole time from uni to work, etc.
But once you hit your 30's and 40's your weight loss will seemingly start to waiver... Your metabolism will seem to slow down and let's face it...
You're a busy individual who is working long hours, with little time for perfect meal prep and long 1hour + workouts.
If you're working at an office job like most of my clients, or spending excessive amount of time glued to your desk and keyboard... it can really take a toll on your metabolism and eventually even lead to weight gain and those stubborn rolls of belly fat getting bigger....
You've probably tried some diet pills, professional dietitian help, eating one grape a day diet, all while seeing 0 weight loss...
But what can you really do, even with your busy lifestyle, to start actually seeing some weight loss?
Allow me to share the top 3 reasons, why you can't lose weight...
1. You're not eating the right Calories
Out of the 100's of contacts I've gotten for coaching, only a handful of people have actually tracked their calories...
Here in Australia, we're quite well versed in kilo-joules and calories, but most people find tracking calories too much of a hassle and quickly stop adhering to their diet.
Making sure to eat the right amount of calories, will ensure that your metabolism is working perfectly, you're progressively losing the weight and you know exactly how to adjust your diet, even if your weight loss slows down.
A good range of calories to start off with your weight loss can be around 1800-1900 calories, depending on your height and weight. And closely monitoring your weight loss, taking out some further calories depending on how you respond and what your scale says.
2. You're not eating the right Macros
Macros are something that is pretty much unheard of by most people here in Australia. They are your Protein, Carbs And Fats % that you eat every day.
Adjusting your Macro % even though you're eating at the exact same calories, can have a big impact on your physique and they are super important to track, using an app such as MyFitnessPal.
If you don't know how much Protein, Carbs and Fats you're eating every day... and not getting the correct nutrition in your body, how can you expect to lose weight?
A good weight loss macro starting point could be 40% Protein, 30% Carbs, 30% Fats. But it's important to adjust things based on how your body responds to specific numbers and monitoring how your physique is shaping up in the mirror and what the scale says.
3. You're not training with the right workout routine
Most people avoid doing weight training and stick to cardio, because it's less intimidating. And it's more natural - running for 1 hour + and quickly rushing out of the gym.
What happens when you have low muscle mass, not eating the correct nutrition in your diet and doing excessive amounts of cardio, this is a perfect recipe for weight loss disaster...
Because it can slow down your metabolism to a crawl, leaving you frustrated as to 'How on earth am I unable to lose weight, even though I'm doing 1 hour + cardio a day!"
Performing 4-5 days of around 30-40mins of weight training and around 10-20 mins of cardio... And especially including some HIIT cardio and Supersets, can really turn up your intensity, speed up your metabolism and really supercharge your weight loss.
