Does Apple Cider Vinegar Really Work For Weight Loss

apple cider vinegar weight loss

Are you wondering if drinking apple cider vinegar can help with your weight loss? Is it something worth looking into, to speed up your results? Find out my own experience with apple cider vinegar and whether I think it's worth it.

Can apple cider vinegar help you lose weight? The straight forward answer is not really... Well not by itself anyway...

Around 3 years ago, I was dieting down for a bodybuilding competition and was a little behind with my conditioning, so I thought to give apple cider vinegar a try... to see if it could boost my fat loss...

I bought a bottle of organic apple cider vinegar from my local Coles (I think it was) and was eager to see some amazing weight loss results... Ok I exaggerated slightly, I was eager to see ANY results really...

I started drinking it at night, around 1 tablespoon in a glass of hot water and eventually even started drinking it as a form of tea... which was quite nice and pleasant to drink at night.

A big problem is that if you end up putting a little too much, it can really taste quite sour, so it's important to stick to the recommended serving listed on your bottle. Usually around 1-2 table spoons per day are acceptable.

Apple cider vinegar can go quite well in salads as a dressing and as a beverage and can actually be used to preserve your foods for longer, because of it's bacteria killing properties found in it's main substance called acetic acid.

During the first 4-6 weeks of using apple cider vinegar in my meals and drinking it as a tea, I didn't notice any significant weight loss results, but felt slightly more energized and refreshed... a little detoxed if you will.

Vinegar is known to reduce your blood sugar and insulin levels and can actually make you feel slightly fuller and eat less calories. Eating 200-300 calories per day less on average. Which is actually a great thing in terms of weight loss, because as we all know... if you eat below your daily calorie requirements on a consistent basis, you will lose weight.

My adherence to the diet was actually quite solid and didn't experience any real cravings and while I was drinking the apple cider vinegar, I felt slightly more satisfied with my meals.

Perhaps the biggest benefit could be that the apple cider vinegar can help you feel slightly fuller and more energized during the day... which when combined with a solid weight loss diet routine, can produce some favorable results.

If your current diet is all over the place and you have no set routine in place and looking to try apple cider vinegar, it wouldn't make much of a difference on it's own...

But if you already have a great diet routine and want an extra 2% boost to your weight loss, then perhaps apple cider vinegar can work in curbing your appetite slightly and helping you feel a tad more energized through the day.

Most people will try to look for that magic pill, supplement, or a miracle food to help them lose weight and get that 'shortcut' to weight loss success... But unfortunately they don't exist.

You can't outrun a bad diet and by wasting your time on things that only add 2-5% to your results, especially when the other 95-98% of your weight loss will come from having the right mindset, lifestyle, diet and training habits... It's better to place your energy on the things that will produce the most amount of weight loss for you.
